The IIA's International Conference 2008 Media Attendance and Coverage

Largest Gathering of Internal Auditors in the World!

The Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) is pleased to welcome the media to its International Conference being held July 6 - 9, 2008 in San Francisco. The IIA's International Conference 2008 is the largest gathering of internal auditors anywhere in the world, and is a ready-resource for media covering topics related to business, governance, risk, control, auditing, accounting, and more. World-renowned speakers and thought leaders in these areas will converge in one place to discuss some of the most pressing issues being covered by today's media. Interviews with select speakers and attendees will be available. Registration is complimentary for journalists who may provide editorial coverage and meet specific eligibility criteria.

Conference Press Room

The IIA's International Conference 2008 will host an on-site press room open to credentialed media. The room will be open and staffed during conference operating hours and will offer amenities such as workspace, interview space, Internet access, computers, printers, fax and phone lines, copier, and refreshments. Access to the conference press room will be limited to the media and IIA staff. Media may schedule the press room interview space for private meetings with speakers.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for media credentials and complimentary registration, you must be currently employed or on assignment as a working journalist by a relevant media outlet. The media outlet must provide original editorial news coverage dedicated (at least partly) to business, finance, auditing, accounting, risk, governance, control, or a related business topic. Journalists may be required to submit the following supporting documentation and qualifying materials as part of the registration process:

An original letter of assignment written on the media outlet's letterhead, stating you have been retained to cover The IIA's International Conference 2008 and the intent of the coverage. The letter must be signed by a senior member of the outlet's editorial department other than yourself.
A current masthead of, or a Web site link to, the media outlet being represented. The media outlet must provide original editorial news coverage dedicated (at least partly) to business, finance, auditing, accounting, risk, governance, control, or a related business topic.
If available, a photocopy or scanned copy of official media credentials from your news organization.
For print or web media, two bylined articles on business, finance, auditing, accounting, risk, governance, control, or a related business topic, published within the previous 12 months.
Personal Web sites do not qualify for media registration.

Individuals representing companies or organizations listed below DO NOT QUALIFY for media registration:

Book authors.
Freelance writers who are employed by non-news organizations.
Publishers, associate/assistant publishers, advertising, marketing, or sales staff members of a news organization
Companies/organizations producing publications, videos, and/or other items solely for the purpose of marketing, advertising, financial analysis, or public relations.
Public relations staff and/or representatives from communications, advertising and PR firms.
Financial analysts and consultants.
Other representatives who are not reporting on the The IIA's International Conference 2008 itself.
The IIA's International Conference 2008 Sponsors and Exhibitors.

How to Register

Registration is complimentary for journalists who may provide editorial coverage and meet the eligibility criteria described on this page. Registration is limited to two individuals per media outlet. Newsletters and college publications are limited to one representative per outlet.

Upon receipt of your credential application form, you may be contacted by The IIA and asked to provide supporting documentation to receive your media credentials. Once credentials are verified, you will be contacted by The IIA Corporate Communications Department to complete registration. A credit card will be required to reserve hotel rooms at the conference discount rate. Media registering on-site should bring all required documentation and qualifying materials.
